Hull Local Elections 2023 – as it happened

The results for Hull’s local elections were declared in the early hours of Friday 5 May at the Guildhall.

19 of Hull’s 21 wards were up for election.

The Liberal Democrat Group held control of Hull City Council, with 32 seats out of a total of 57.

The political make-up of the council is now:

  • Liberal Democrats – 32 seats
  • Labour Group – 25 seats

The results for Hull’s local elections have now been finalised. The Liberal Democrats have held control of Hull City Council, with 32 seats out of a total of 57.

Local Elections 2023 Facts

Here’s some of the interesting facts around this year’s Local Elections in Hull:

  • This year, there were a total of 114 polling stations (22 of which are double stations) – These include: Hull Mosque, Hands on History Museum, community centres, as well as various cafes and restaurants.
  • Over 250 polling station staff, who will have worked over 3800 hours on Election Day.
  • Over 21,600 postal voters across the 19 wards which have elections this year. If you could lay the postal voting packs end-to-end, they would stretch for nearly three miles.
