The government has announced that, on Thursday 5 November, England will enter lockdown in a bid to control the spread of coronavirus and to protect the NHS.
This means additional restrictions, which includes how people can exercise and access leisure facilities.
Hull Culture and Leisure (HCAL) has been assessing how these restrictions will affect many of the leisure facilities in the city, including parks, playgrounds and swimming pools.
Here is how the restrictions will affect these facilities –
Hull Museums and Galleries
HCAL has announced that its museums and galleries will all close.

Parks
Parks will remain open with the park ranger service continuing to operate. People visiting parks must socially distance. Sporting activity in parks will cease during lockdown, however HCAL are awaiting clarification regarding whether angling is to be permitted. The Zoo in East Park will have to close given the national rules.
Playgrounds
Playgrounds will remain open. People visiting them must ensure that they comply with social distancing and follow rules for the use of the equipment that is displayed.
Leisure centres and swimming pools
All HCAL leisure sites and swimming pools are required to close.
Councillor Dave Craker, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: “Since the announcement that the country is going into lockdown on Thursday, officers have been busy assessing which facilities can remain open and which cannot. We are following the guidance from government and assuring that what remains open is done so responsibly and in accordance with Public Health England advice.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and respond accordingly to any updates we receive from government. These are difficult times for residents, I thank them for their patience and urge everyone to continue looking out for one another and respecting the measures that are in place.”
