People all over the world are being encouraged to reduce their plastic waste this month
Plastic Free July is a global initiative that asks people to consider the environment and cut their reliance on single-use plastic.
Millions of people from around the world have signed up for Plastic Free July, an initiative from the Plastic Free Foundation. Participants take on the challenge to avoid single-use plastic for the whole month.
We’ve put together a list of five simple ways you can reduce your plastic use:
- Use reusable water bottles
- Buy loose fruit and vegetables
- Use bars of soap, rather than bottled shower/bath gel
- Use reusable shopping bags
- Use steel reusable straws
Sara Clayton is an environmental improvement team leader at Hull City Council.
She said: “There are loads of easy and simple ways for people to cut their reliance on single-use plastic. For many people their reliance is a result of habit and convenience, but these changes are not only easy to make, they are also vital for our planet and particularly our oceans.”
