After phase one of the footpath resurfacing and reconstruction programme in west Hull was completed ahead of schedule, Hull City Council has confirmed that phase two will commence on Monday 6 January.
Works will begin on the northern footpath of River Grove, as well as on Lulworth Avenue and Lymington Garth.
This will be undertaken by Wright Civil Engineering Limited before improvement works will move onto Newington Avenue and then Boothferry Road between Belgrave Drive and Newington Avenue.
Phase one, covering the southern footpath of River Grove, Vincent Close and Datchet Garth, was completed on Friday 13 December, a week ahead of schedule.
The full programme of works for phase two, including expected completion dates, is as follows:
River Grove northern footpath – Monday 6 January to Friday 30 January
Lulworth Avenue – Monday 6 January to Tuesday 14 January
Lymington Garth – Monday 6 January to Friday 24 January
Newington Avenue – Monday 27 January to Friday 7 February
Boothferry Road between Belgrave Drive and Newington Avenue – Monday 3 February to Friday 21 February.
Cllr Mark Ieronimo, the council’s portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways, said: “It is pleasing that Wright Civil Engineering Limited have been able to complete phase one of these works ahead of schedule, therefore minimising disruption to residents, for which we thank them.
“We hope that phase two can be completed with such efficiency and thank residents for their patience whilst it is completed.”
Parking bays on Boothferry Road will be temporarily suspended to allow works for take place, however the scheme is being split into three phases to reduce the impact.
The bus service will continue to run, however due to the works, motorists are warned that this could slow traffic flow when making stops.
