Essential works to take place on Beverley Road

Essential maintenance works on Beverley Road will take place on Monday 8 until Tuesday 16 January.

The works will be split into two phases and are being undertaken off-peak and overnight to try and minimise the disruption.

Councillor Alan Clark, Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Streetscene, said:

“The closures are essential so that works can be carried out efficiently in order to improve the condition of the road, and ensure the highway provides a safe and even surface for traffic with adequate grip and skid resistance

“We ask that motorists are patient and apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during the period of the works.”

Phase one:

Monday 8 – Saturday 13 January, carriageway resurfacing works between De Grey Street and Fitzroy Street will take place in the vicinity of the railway bridge on Beverley Road.

Monday 8 – Wednesday 10 January, off-peak works (9.30am-4pm) will take place to prepare the carriageway for resurfacing. Traffic management measures will be in place reducing the width of the lanes, however both lanes will remain open at all times.

Thursday 11 – Friday 12 January, overnight closures will be in place between Beverley Road, Queens Road and De Grey Street under the railway bridge to carry out the road resurfacing. The signed diversion route is via Queens Road, Newland Avenue and Cottingham Road (and vice versa).

Phase two:

Monday 15 – Tuesday 16 January, Beverley Road will be closed between Clough Road and Beresford Avenue will take place overnight(7pm-6am) to allow the road to be resurfaced. The diversion route is via Cottingham Road, Cranbrook Avenue and Inglemire Lane (and vice versa).

Advance warning signs will be displayed for motorists and access will be maintained at all times for emergency service vehicles, however scheduled bus services will be diverted during the hours of the closures.
