Hull Bus Alliance announce festive group travel offer

The Hull Bus Alliance has announced a group travel discount to help people get out and about over the festive season as well as providing a timely boost for the local economy during the busy Christmas and New Year period.

Stagecoach East Midlands and East Yorkshire Buses will be offering the Hull Card Group ticket for up to five people for £7, perfect for families and groups of friends enjoying a day out or attending the city’s packed programme of events, funded by the Department for Transport and Hull City Council.

The offer runs from Monday 1 December through to Wednesday 31 December.

The Hull Card Group ticket can be used as many times as you like on Stagecoach or East Yorkshire buses in Hull on the day of purchase, but you must be travelling together.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be running a group travel offer on board our city’s buses again this festive season.

“These types of promotions have proved to be really popular with residents and communities across the city when we’ve run them previously, such as during the summer and last Christmas, and we anticipate good take up again.

“In addition to providing greater choice when it comes to travelling around the city in the build up to Christmas and the New Year, group travel on the buses helps with the cost of living and also introduces customers to bus travel – sometimes for the first time – helping us to increase passenger usage and tackle issues of congestion.”

Ben Gilligan, managing director at East Yorkshire Buses, said: “East Yorkshire Buses is delighted to partner with our colleagues at Stagecoach East Midlands and Hull City Council to offer discounted travel options during the Christmas period. This will allow families and friends to choose the sustainable option and avoid the frustration of sitting in traffic and paying for parking whilst also receiving excellent value bus travel.”

Matt Cranwell, managing director at Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “Stagecoach East Midlands is delighted to be able to support this discounted travel option during the Christmas period, offering families or groups of friends (up to five people) the opportunity to travel across Hull for the price of two of our normal Adult Dayriders – great for seeing a Christmas Panto, doing the Christmas shopping or even popping to the ice rink! Once again, we’re pleased to support cost-efficient travel, helping to support environmental goals and allow freedom of movement across the city and surrounding areas.”
