Is there a better month than August? Maybe that’s a debate for another day, but it certainly has to be up there, especially in Hull!
Here’s just a small selection of some of the things taking place in Hull this month.
Healthy Holidays
Across Hull, various dates
There are tonnes of events happening across the city in August thanks to the fantastic Healthy Holidays programme.
This includes two Playdays events at Alderman Kneeshaw Playing Fields (Wednesday 6 August) and Pickering Park (Wednesday 20 August).
Trinity House Tours
Trinity House, Monday 18 August
Hull’s historic Trinity House is opening its doors to the public this month.
Visitors can learn about the house’s history dating back to 1369 when Hull, formerly known as Wyke until 1299, was still a developing town. See rare and valued artefacts which include nautical memorabilia, furniture, artworks and treasures from around the globe.

Dino Day
Queen Victoria Square, Friday 8 August
Visitors will have the chance to get up close and personal with a giant T-Rex, velociraptor, spinosaurus, dilophosaurus and baby dinosaurs.
Activities also include free face painting, a colouring competition with dinosaur prizes, dinosaur related exhibitors and much more.
Pearson Park Guided History Walk
Pearson Park, Sunday 24 August
Enjoy a guided walk around Pearson Park and learn all about the heritage of Hull’s first People’s Park with local tour guide Paul Schofield.
No need to book, just turn up and meet at the Entrance Gateway. People are asked to pay what they can.
Freedom Festival
Hull City Centre, Thursday 28 August until Sunday 31 August
The incredible Freedom Festival returns at the end of August.
Hull City Centre will be alive with circus, dance, music and so much more. As always, there will be a free outdoor programme with some ticketed shows.
