Legacy Independent Funeral Directors investigation update

Almost 13 months ago, on Wednesday, 6 March 2024, Humberside Police launched an investigation into Legacy Independent Funeral Directors.

Today, Wednesday 2 April, following an extensive police inquiry and thorough Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) review, a 47-year-old man has been charged by Humberside Police with a combined total of 64 offences in connection to the investigation, including fraud, fraudulent trading, theft, and preventing a lawful and decent burial. 

As a council, we continue to work with our partners at Humberside Police, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Victim Support to support those affected.
