Hull City Council is taking every precaution to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Housing staff – who are more accustomed to using sprays to control weeds – are spraying disinfectant in and around blocks of flats.
Councillor John Black, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for housing, said: “Currently, our tenants living in multi-storey flats need additional support because of their close proximity to their neighbours.
“Basically, a high-rise block of flats is a street in the sky with everyone using the same main entrance, the same lift and the same bin chute areas. So we are taking all the preventative measures we can to minimise the spread of the virus in the flats.”
