Myton Bridge will close to motorists in both directions this afternoon for a few hours.
The closure is taking place so that an emergency inspection can take place.
For motorists travelling towards the east of the city, a diversion will be in place via Lowgate and Drypool Bridge. And for motorists travelling west, the diversion route will be via Union Street and Drypool Bridge.
The traffic management is being put in place by Highways England contractor A-one+.
Motorists are asked to be patient during this short closure.
