What’s on in Hull – August 2024

There is so much going on in Hull this month, including the return of some of the city’s most popular annual events –

Humber Street Sesh

Hull Marina, Saturday 3 August, 12pm until 11pm

It simply wouldn’t be summer without Humber Street Sesh.

The award-winning Humber Street Sesh returns, headlined by acclaimed Shoegaze 4-piece bdrmm. The festival showcases over 100 acts and provides a platform for regional emerging artists and musicians and critically acclaimed breaking bands from further afield.

Healthy Holidays

The Healthy Holidays programme provides a wide range of summer events specifically for children, young people and families.

There is tonnes of stuff happening all over the city, and you can have a closer look at the programme here.

The programme includes the always popular Play Days, which provides activities such as donkey rides, story-telling, face painting and craft activities.

Live From The Yard

Zebedee’s Yard, Thursday 8 August until Sunday 11 August, various times

Some HUGE names in music are heading to Hull this summer to feature as part of the stunning line-up at Live From The Yard.

Hull’s very own Calum Scott will open an incredible weekend of live music that will also include Ocean Colour Scene, Embrace, Razorlight, Reverend and The Makers, The Zutons and Ministry Of Sound Classical.

Freedom Festival

Various locations, Wednesday 28 August until Sunday 1 September, 12pm until 11pm

The end of August sees the return of another Hull favorite – Freedom Festival.

As always, the festival is filled with theatre, street art, acrobatics and all sorts, so take a deep dive into the programme and pick out what catches your eye.

Dino Day

Queen Victoria Square, Friday 9 August, 11am until 4pm

It’s going to be a pre-historic day in Hull city centre!

The event will be packed full of activities and exhibits. Visitors will have the chance to get up close and personal with a giant T-Rex, velociraptor, spinosaurus, dilophosaurus and baby dinosaurs.

Activities also include free face painting, a colouring competition with dinosaur prizes, dinosaur related exhibitors and much more.
