Registrars from Hull City Council have helped a couple make their dream come true, via a unique wedding ceremony.
It was held at Hull’s historic Victoria Pier, a special place for Hollie Iggleden and Dean Peacham
They had a true Hull theme to their day, calling on the services of only independent Hull traders, including locally sourced wedding attire, and personalised Chip Spice as wedding favours!
The ceremony at the Pier took place on Saturday 29 July.
With the Pier being a public highway, many onlookers were also able to take in the happy occasion.
The happy couple said: “We both love Hull and are proud to be from Hull.
“We are massive advocates for our city and the wonderful unique independent businesses that it is home to.
“We wanted our wedding to reflect our personalities and to express our love for this wonderful city.
“Everything bought for the wedding has been from Hull independent businesses and hopefully we have shown people what Hull has to offer.”
Jillian Fill, registration and coroners support service manager, said: “It was a privilege to be involved, where we were able to provide a bespoke ceremony for them, and I really want to thank my staff for their flexibility in being able to give Hollie and Dean their special day.
“We’re really happy to try to accommodate unusual requests, to try to ensure couples’ big days are as special and personal as possible.”
Councillor Jack Haines is the portfolio holder for communications and communities, with responsibility for Registration Services.
He said: “From the historic Guildhall to outdoor places like the Victoria Pier, Hull is a fantastic city to get married in.
“We’re so lucky our city has so many historic venues that can provide some unique celebrations.”
