Hull Street Food Nights 2023

HullBid’s street food nights are back this summer! Serving a wide range of food and drink from all over the world, enjoy the relaxing, open-air setting with family friends each month.

The Big Malarkey Festival
East Park, HU8 8JU, 24 – 25 June 2023, 10am – 5pm
The Big Malarkey Festival returns to East Park with a sixth helping of family fun to celebrate children’s books and stories.
This year’s festival theme is ‘A Kind of Magic’. Books and stories contain a kind of magic – the power to take you away to another place, to introduce you to extraordinary people, or things beyond your own imagination.

Jools Holland & His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra

The legendary Jools Holland visits Hull with his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra this month.
The show will feature special guests Pauline Black and Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson from The Selecter and guest vocalists Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall & Sumudu Jayatilaka.
Ancient Egypt in Popular Fiction: Bram Stoker, Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie

This talk examines how three famous writersengaged with Ancient Egypt through their fictions, against the wider backdrop of Victorian and early twentieth-century exploration and excavation.
Conan Doyle and Bram Stoker are better known for other fictional creations, but they were also fascinated by Ancient Egypt.
Led by Dr Catherine Wynne, this work builds on both her research and teaching at the University of Hull.
