Primary pupils have enjoyed a morning planting a variety of plant species at Bude Park Playing Fields.
A selection of children from Bude Park Academy joined local contractor Houlton, supported by Landplan to plant species such as alder, aspen, birch, rowan, holly and willow.
The trees will add to the biodiversity of the area which has undergone significant investment, including a new drainage system, football pitches, new pavilion and an improved car park with additional spaces.
Carmen Taylor, head of major projects at Hull City Council, said: “It was a pleasure to be able to welcome along pupils from Bude Park Academy.
“The project is progressing nicely and it is great to be able to involve the local community.
“Pupils at Bude Park Academy will be benefitting from these improvements for years to come, so for them to learn about it and the significance these trees will have in creating a sustainable facility is vitally important for its long-term future.”

The children were also given a sneak peek around the new pavilion which features modern, comfortable changing rooms for mixed teams, as well as referee facilities, toilets, showers and a kitchen accessible from the playing field side for the serving of hot drinks and snacks.
This will transform the user experience at the popular provision, with the new kitchen providing an important revenue stream.
A period of non-activity on the pitches is ongoing to enable them to be established and ready to be used later this year.
Hull City Council is working in partnership with Hull Esteem and Geo Houlton & Sons to deliver the project, with funding support from the Football Foundation.
To complement the playing field improvements, a brand new splash pad was also installed at Bude Park last summer.
