Today, 1 March, parents of children starting secondary school in Hull in September will be offered a school place.
Eleven year olds will be offered a place at one of the city’s 12 secondary schools.
This year 88 per cent of pupils have received their first choice of school and 95 per cent have been offered one of their choices.
Councillor Shane McMurray, portfolio holder for children’s services said: “We are working hard and investing in the city’s schools to ensure as many children as possible get their preferred choice of school.
“I’m pleased that the majority of children have places at their choice of school, but we will continue to work with schools across Hull to provide required places.”
Two further expansion schemes began this year at Malet Lambert and Sirius Academy North, each providing an additional 150 pupil places. In addition, Trinity House Academy will be taking an additional 120 pupils from this year. £50million is being invested across the city’s schools.
Hull now has 87 per cent of schools assessed as Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.
Those who applied online for their child’s place, and requested an email confirmation, will receive an email on 1 March confirming their allocation.
All parents and carers will be sent a letter on 1 March. Parents have until 15 March to reply if they do not wish to accept the place.
